How to install Spotify on Arch Linux 2016

Spotify is a popular music streaming service. Spotify can be installed easily on Arch Linux 2016 via Pamac Software Manager. Spotify is available in AUR repository. So make sure you have enabled AUR repository on Arch Linux prior to Spotify installation.

Steps to install Spotify on Arch Linux

GUI Mode

Step 1. Open Add/Remove Software

Step 2. Search for "spotify"

Step 3. Select Spotify and press Apply

Terminal mode

yaourt -S spotify

Install Darktable 2.2.0 on Arch Linux, Adobe Lightroom like Software

Adobe Lightroom is a perfect software for photographer but its only available for Windows OS. But don't worry, Linux community has a software called Darktable which has similar features with Lightroom. The new version of Darktable 2.2.0 is now available for download. Arch Linux users can install Darktable via Pamac software installer.

Steps to install Darktable 2.2.0 on Arch Linux

Step 1. Open Pamac Software Installer (Add/Remove Software)

Step 2. Type "darktable" on the search box

Step 3. Mark Darktable on the search result and press Apply

Alternatively, use the following command to install Darktable via Terminal

sudo pacman -S darktable

How to install Gnome Tweak Tool on Arch Linux

If you are running Gnome or Budgie Desktop environment on Arch Linux, Gnome Tweak Tool is a must have application for you to install. It has many features to better manage Arch Linux. This tutorial will show you how to install Gnome Tweak Tool on Arch Linux.

Gnome Tweak Tool features:

• Appearance changer (GTK theme, icons, cursor)
• Desktop icon manager, wallpaper changer
• Font changer
• Startup application manager
• Top bar editor
• Workspace manager

To install Gnome Tweak Tool on Arch Linux, simply use the following command:

sudo pacman -S gnome-tweak-tool

Add AUR repository to Arch Linux via command line

It is important to have AUR repository enabled on our Arch Linux. The AUR repository provides many software and packages for Arch based Linux. Here I will show you how to enable or install AUR repository on Arch Linux via command line. I don't have any Desktop Environment yet on my Arch Linux.

Steps to add AUR repository on Arch Linux

Edit /etc/pacman.conf file using nano

nano /etc/pacman.conf

Now add the following lines at the bottom:

[archlinuxfr]
SigLevel = Never
Server = http://repo.archlinux.fr/$arch

Now refresh the repository

sudo pacman -Sy

Then install yaourt

sudo pacman -S yaourt

Tutorial to Install Arch Linux 2016 for Newbie

Arch Linux is an interesting distribution. But installing Arch Linux needs more efforts and some Terminal skills that mostly avoided by newbies. But there is an easier way to install Arch Linux. I can say that you don't have to understand Linux commands in order to install Arch Linux using this way. All you need is Arch Linux Anywhere, a more "human" Arch Linux installer.

Nowadays, Arch Linux and all its derivatives gain its popularity amongs Linux users. The rolling release update system (with all pros and cons) makes easier for anyone to get the most updated system on the go. I am an Ubuntu users but lately, I want to focus on Arch Linux and all derivatives such as Manjaro, Antergos Linux. These are awesome Linux distribution, powerful and easy to use.

Most Linux newbie think that Arch is designed for geeks. And I also admit it. Comes with no default Desktop force us to install and configure Arch from command line. That's why I am creating this blog. I want to write any difficulties and experience I might found when using, installing Arch Linux.
